My Memories still linger on the empty space that was once "The Audubon Park Swimming Pool."

A drained Audubon Park Swimming Pool probably from the 50's or 60's.

My 1950s 9th Ward friends and I rode the street car transferring at Canal Street and Royal street stopping at the Royal Castle on Royal for a frozen glass of root beer and hamburger. We were thrilled to swim in that Audubon park pool every summer until we weren't children anymore. And how over the passing years, most of my friends who were kids like me wound up going to Louisianans Angola, penitentiary or were shot to death by a policeman, some more dying young from addicted to dope. I had better parents surviving those 9th Ward mean streets until we finally moved. These memories of us swimming in that Audubon park pool are some of my best moments with those same friends back then.
