Thomas Williams -4 of the top 10 college football teams go down in defeat as the LSU fighting tigers are still trying to learn how to block and tackle.
I've never seen an LSU college football team who couldn't run the ball at all. Like this 2021 LSU tiger football team fails to run the ball every game they play.

Thomas Williams Remember when all anyone wanted was one of those shiny new modern era spread passing offenses? Well, we got it. The inability to run the ball IS the LSU achilles heel. The problem is OL play. The question is whether it's fixable in-season or if it will require new players, which would mean it's at least a year or two away. When LSU couldn't run against Central Michigan, it was obvious that the SEC schedule was not going to be good for the Tigers. If you read up on OL draft profiles, you'll see that even NFL draft-able linemen tend to be good at pass blocking and weak run blockers or vice-versa. Blocking scheme can only do so much when facing these SEC caliber D-lines that are built to "try" and stop Bama's always potent run game. It's a double edged sword and usually teams have to recruit their way out of OL problems. And then they're all recruiting against each other to get the scraps left over from Saban's recruiting... and SEC coaches don't usually keep their jobs long enough for a 2nd re-build.
